SHAP is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce, and eliminating unlawful discrimination. We work towards service delivery through a staff team that is representative of society and for each service user, client and employee to feel respected and able to give their best.
Although not required to produce a slavery and human trafficking statement Shap has issued a Modern Slavery Policy Statement, in line with our values and commitment to social justice.
Our Safeguarding Policy sets out the standards SHAP will adhere to and the approach it will take to ensure that our service users, clients, employees and other stakeholders are safeguarded from abuse or neglect.
We always try to give the best service that we can and to meet service user, client and stakeholder expectations. However, we know that however hard we try, we may not meet your expectations every time. For this reason, your views are important to us. We appreciate and value your feedback, and whilst it is always good for us to hear when things go right, we also need to know when things go wrong – so that we can get it right next time.

SHAP encourages employees and others who have serious concerns about any aspect of the organisation’s work to come forward and voice those concerns.
Employees are often the first to realise that there may be something seriously wrong within SHAP and ‘Whistleblowing’ is viewed as a positive act that can make a valuable contribution to the way we deliver services, our efficiency and long-term success. It is not disloyal to colleagues or SHAP to speak up.
