Janine Iyanda

Safeguarding Lead Responsibility (for Children & Adults) and Interim Data Protection Officer

Janine began her career in Health & Social Care in 1995, starting as a Support Worker in Liverpool, working with people with mental health problems, before progressing to Deputy Manager, Service Manager and Regional Manager roles in a range of organisations before joining Shap in 2018.

As Operations Manager she is responsible for Shap’s Floating Support services, our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Community Development Scheme, Refugee Resettlement Scheme, Supported Lodgings, Changes (a Big Lottery funded Help Through Crisis Scheme) and temporary accommodation services.

She is also a Non-Executive Board Member of the Insight Network for Mental Health.

Her likes and interests include shopping (to the extent that she has the QVC app on her mobile); travelling (to the South of France, in particular); music (including ‘real’ i.e. vinyl records); Calligraphy; Orange Wine, Grapefruit Wine and running stalls at local craft fairs to raise funds for community groups.

She dislikes rats, mice and pigeons (the latter she considers rats with wings), heights, football and house plants.
