Dave Tighe

Dave joined Shap’s Board of Trustees in 1986 when he was manager of the Welfare Rights Unit in St Helens. His first Board meeting was also the first for another young man – Mark Weights. In 1991 Mark became the Project Manager at Shap and Dave succeeded him as Chair.

Some 30 years later, Shap is now a diverse and significant service provider across Merseyside and further afield, and is still rising to the challenge of dealing with ever-changing and ever-tightening financial pressures.

Dave’s career saw him move from St Helens to Liverpool, North Wales and Cheshire, and from welfare rights though to developing policies and planning adult social care services, to becoming the Principal Corporate Policy Officer in Ellesmere Port & Neston.

Shap has been an important part of his life and he is very proud of its many achievements. In truth, Shap’s success has been due to the hard work of its staff and Chief Executive. Dave believes that the Board has played its part by being supportive and encouraging the organisation to diversify and expand at a sustainable pace.
