Our People

Andy Lee-McGurk

Operations Manager, Places

Andy began his career working with vulnerable people in 1982 teaching outdoor pursuits in Birkenhead. From there, via working with disabled people and photography, he moved on to Youthwork, then Housing and Support, starting work with Shap in January 2001.

Since then he has worked as a Project Worker in our hostel for Homeless Young People in St Helens before moving on to management, first as a Project Leader, then Area Manager.

Although he is now an Operations Manager he still enjoys working hands-on with service users and clients across all of our services.

As Operations Manager, Places, he shares responsibility for all of our accommodation based services in Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens with Joanne Burke, as well as leading on Health & Safety and IT for the organisation.

Andy enjoys sailing, travelling on his Royal Enfield motorbike, exploring different cultures and listening to live rock music. Consequently, he is known as either “the guy with the long hair” or “the guy with the loud socks”.

Andy is an equestrian husband, which means he rarely sees his wife but knows when she is home by the smell of horse and the empty bank balance.

He has very few dislikes, but clothes shopping and haircuts are at the top of the list.
