St Helens Young Persons Floating Support

St Helens Young Persons Floating Support

This floating support service enables young people aged between 16 and 25 to develop the skills and confidence they need to live independently in their own tenancies.

The Steps Scheme, The St Helens Resettlement Scheme and The Leaving Care Scheme have now all been incorporated into the St Helens Young peoples Floating Support Service.

Referrals are usually made via Sure Start or Social Services but direct applications are accepted.

People on this scheme will need some help living independently.

This scheme is also aimed at young people who are preparing to leave care. It is structured so that people can begin to receive support at 16 or, more usually, 17. At this stage, the support will be handled by Social Services but as they reach their 18th birthday, their place will be become funded by Supporting People. The service was designed in collaboration with Supporting People and Social Services to ensure that no young person would need to stop receiving support as a result of turning 18.
